October 27-31, 2002

This trip was to attend an Enterprise Wireless Forum, at the Boston World Trade Center in Boston, MA - October 28-30, 2002

Due to American Airlines best airfare of $1295 (Verizon rate), I opted to take a US Airways flight with a plane change in Charlotte, NC going up and one in Philadelphia, PA coming home - with a rate of $501

I stayed at the Seaport Hotel, across the street from the Boston World Trade Center.  With parking being $23 a day, I didn't get a car and walking across the street worked out great.  Taxi rides got me everywhere else I went.
The Hotel & WTC is in the South part of Boston, an area that they are doing lots of work and expansion in currently. 200 Seaport Lane Map

The Big Dig, a Boston Central Artery Tunnel really had the freeways and such torn up - glad I wasn't driving!

Looking out from my 14th floor room window, I could see the Boston World Trade Center where the Forum was being held.

These views are looking almost due North.

Looking out further, you could see the Harbor and ...

Further on the horizon, the Charleston bridge

The Clock Tower is the Marriott Custom House Tower - labeled as one of the most remarkable buildings in Boston, MA.

One night was a visit to Legal Sea Foods Restaurant at the Long Wharf location on 255 State Street - Boston, MA 02110

That meal I enjoyed some great Raw Oysters, NE Clam Chowder, and a Lobster

Anthony's Pier 4 restaurant was just down the street.  This was a recommended restaurant but I didn't get time to try it.

This was a view down the Commons Area downtown near the Faneuil Hall Marketplace (#154) - a touristy shopping area with lots of little shops.

The Purple Shamrock was the choice for Lunch on Monday - a neat little downtown bar / eatery

Downtown Boston is very tight, small streets and tall buildings with lots of interesting architecture.

A Harborside Table at Jimmy's Jimmy's Harborside Restaurant was just a block down from the hotel - a choice for Dinner one evening.  The kitchen closes at 9pm so you had better not be late.  The bacon-wrapped scallops were great along with half-lobster on linguini.

Walking down the sidewalk just down from Cheers, the entrance to this home was very unique

I visited the original location on Beacon Street - very disappointing - not at all like the set in the TV Series.

It wasn't even close enough to want to take a pictures inside.

They do have a "replica" Cheers bar in the Commons Area downtown that is suppose to be just like the set.
